Rubbermaid Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness – Review & Giveaway – CLOSED

October 13, 2011

Reviews & Giveaways

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is one disease that can permanently rob a woman of her identity, her womanhood, and her femininity, even if it leaves her with her life.  Here are some of the eye-opening statistics, provided by the Canadian Cancer Society, via The Breast Cancer Society

In 2011,

…an estimated 23,400 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 5,100 will die from it.

…approximately 64 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every day

…approximately 14 Canadian women will die of breast cancer every day

…1 in 9 women is expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime (age 90) and 1 in 28 will die from it.

…it is expected that 190 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 55 will die from it.

…Breast cancer death rates have declined in all ages combined and in every age group since the mid 1990s.

In response to this, Rubbermaid has pledged a minimum of $50,000 to the cause.  Rubbermaid will contribute $0.50 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for each pink Refill Reuse Bottle sold and $0.40 for each pink Take Along food storage 4-pack sold.  Four different Take Along food storage containers have been made pink for this program:  760ml Round, 1.2L Deep Square, 669ml Square, and 284ml Twist & Seal containers.  These products are available at Loblaws and Walmart stores across Canada.

To help all my Canadian readers show their support for the cause, Rubbermaid is offering one of you a full set of these pink beauties.

You’ll get a Pink reusable bottle.

A four pack of these lovely containers.  They truly are leak proof and absolutely fantastic.

A 4-pack of these little snack size containers.

A 4-pack of these nice, deep squares.  Perfect for leftover lasagna.

And a 4-pack of these bowls.  I find them handy for storing and sending leftover soups, freezing and serving nibbly snacks, and even keeping track of little doll accessories.

I think I will get the most use out of the water bottle. I love bringing water around with me everywhere I go. The container I’m using right now isn’t very big, and that Rubbermaid one looks excellent. I also like that it is BPA free.

I will use the pink water bottle the most… I have one at school that I use every day to drink water… otherwise I don’t drink all day and that’s not healthy!! My water bottle is blue (boo). I really need a PINK one since I have the twin girls!!!!

  13. Lisa Lajoie Says:

I will also use the little containers…. Chris uses them everyday at work for his salad dressing. He REALLY needs the pink ones since they would go good with his white shoes and white pants…. only a real man can wear white after labor day and use pink containers for his dressing 😉

  14. Lisa Lajoie Says:

And finally… we will use all the other containers since Selah and Raya’s school often have garbage free days where we use reusable containers. Pink is perfect and will keep the kids aware of important issues such as Breast Cancer Awareness! (and it is also their birthday… nothing says happy birthday like pink reusable containers!!!)
